Five Stone

Created with a commission from Werkstatt Berlin (1988) and the Festival d"Avignon and the Paris Festival d'Automne, Cunningham decided to make one long piece, "Five Stone" and "Wind". "Five Stone" premiered first. The title refers to Cunningham's delineation of the space into five focal points indicating the direction in which they would face in relation to the audience. 92 phrases were organized around these five focal points.
