Ground Level Overlay

A tender pas de deux, Ground Level Overlay is filled with rigorous choreography including various jumps with legs bent at the knees for entire phrases, and reversed turns in tightly held positions. At various points the two dancers join in an embrace, a break from the unemotional tone of the piece. Stuart Dempster’s Under Ground Overlays, set the eerie mood for the dance, a haunting score produced by ten trombone players. Suzanna Gallo designed the costumes.
