Objects

The idea for “Objects” appears to have been based on the rhyme “Something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue.” A “borrowed” element was the “Virginia Reel” section from the dance “Septet” which was incorporated into the piece. The title of the dance derived from the large sculptures designed by Neil Jenney which were mounted on casters and moved around the stage by the dancers. Other objects were mimed in activities including playing jacks, mopping the floor, and looking at a wristwatch.
