Waka

“Waka” was one of two solos for Carolyn Brown made especially for a European tour done by Brown, Cunningham, John Cage and David Tudor. Brown described the dance as “excruciatingly slow, almost hypnotic. It was a dance for the torso and arms, with almost no movement through space.” At Cunningham’s request, Rauschenberg designed hand weights as part of the costume.
