Merce by Merce by Paik

This 30 minute video is in two parts. The first, "Blue Studio," is available separately; and the second, "Merce and Marcel," uses material from other sources, including excerpts from a performance of Cunningham's "Septet" from 1964 and Russell Connor's 1964 interview with Marcel Duchamp. Paik and Kubota transpose their source material into a witty collage in tribute to Cunningahm and Duchamp, as they address an issue important to both Cunningham and Duchamp: time. In this homage to the two individuals who inspired their work, Paik and Kubota illustrate that time and movement are reversible and can be made manifest through video editing.
