Sometimes It Works, Sometimes It Doesn't

Video in two parts with the second part being the filmdance "Channels/Inserts," available separately. In the first part, Merce Cunningham and John Cage discuss, in separate interviews, the influence of the other on his own work, as well as their collaboration together in the theater, the relationship between movement and sound and their use of chance operations. Interviews alternate with footage fromearlier works that illustrate their style and aesthetic. Includes excerpts from a performance in Harvard Square of "4'33'" by John Cage, MCDC rehearsals, and Cunningham's solo video dance "Blue Studio."
