Choreography / 1994

4'33"

The choreography for "4'33" was chosen by the dancers. Each dancer picked three positions to hold during the piece's three "movements." A change of lighting indicated when each movement began. The piece was part of a John Cage Tribute at SummerStage in Central Park. Cage's famous (notorious) "silent" piece was played by David Tudor. The dancers wore street clothes for the first performance and Event costumes subsequently.
